# No drafts at all

A message came to the mailbox, but there is nothing in the Drafts folder? Go
through the causes in this order — the most common are at the top.

## 1. The assistant is in trial mode

In trial mode drafts are made **only in draften**; they do not go to the
mail. You can tell by the **trial mode** label at the top of every page. The
drafts are in the Drafts section. How to go live is shown in
[Trial mode and going live](/en/trial-mode).

## 2. The mail check has not run yet

The assistant looks into the mailbox at regular intervals (usually every
5 minutes). At the bottom of the [Overview](/en/overview) you see when it last
checked the mail. Want it now? Click the round-arrow button at the top right
— **Check the mail**.

## 3. The assistant is switched off or the mailbox paused

A switched-off assistant reads no mail. The top of the page then shows a
**Start the assistant** button. A paused mailbox is resumed by an
organisation manager.

## 4. The mailbox is disconnected

When the mailbox loses access to the mail (a changed password, a withdrawn
consent), the assistant skips it. Settings → **Mailbox and access** then
shows **disconnected**. Connect it again and run the connection test — see
[Mailbox and access](/en/mailbox-and-access).

## 5. The message was not meant to get a draft

Open **Mail** and find the message. Its status and reason say why: automatic,
skipped by the Filter, no reply. Every status is explained in
[Why some mail gets no draft](/en/mail-without-a-draft). Ask for a draft with
**Draft a reply**.

## 6. A limit or the cost cap was reached

The message has the **limit** status, and the Overview warns about the cap.
The assistant continues the next day; the limits are in Settings →
[Behaviour and limits](/en/behaviour-and-limits).

## 7. A draft was written but not created

The **rejected** status means the draft failed a check. See
[The draft was not created](/en/draft-not-created).

## 8. You do not see the message in Mail at all

Then the assistant skipped it on purpose: it came from your own address, to
another assistant's alias, or already carries the assistant's label. Or it
arrived before the assistant started (the first check covers only the last
24 hours).

## None of these?

Look at Settings → [Activity](/en/activity-and-history), at the last mail
checks and events. If there is an error, send it to your organisation's
manager.
